PM likely to visit Sangam city to review preparations
ALLAHABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Allahabad either in October or November to take stock of Kumbh preparations, said regional tourism officer Anupam Srivastava.
“Since this time the mega religious fair is being held at a scale never witnessed before, the central and the state governments are keeping a close watch on its preparations,” he said. “However, confirmation of his visit and detailed schedule is yet to be received,” the officer added.
As per Srivastava, a delegation of ambassadors of 100 countries led by union external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj will also arrive in the city by the year end to assess the preparations and sort out hurdles for smooth arrival, stay and departure of foreign nationals during Kumbh.
As per reports, the prime minister’s office (PMO) has been forwarding suggestions on various issues relating to smooth conduct of Kumbh, be it arrangement for arrival, stay and departure of foreign tourists, making alterations in Kumbh logo, setting up of residential colony in Arail area for NRI guests and so on. Apart from this, revealed officials entrusted with the task of Kumbh, reports relating to the preparations for the mega religious fair were being duly forwarded to the PMO. Moreover, dayto-day proceedings of the 49-day mela scheduled to start with the first shahi snan of Makar Sankranti on January 14, 2019 and last bathing of Mahashivratri on March 4, 2019 will be sent to PMO by mela administration.
It will be the first time when webcasting of the event would be done in 25 countries. Besides, branding exercise of the same is presently being undertaken in several countries.
