Soon: Obstruction free view of heritage structures
LUCKNOW: In days to come, tourists and heritage enthusiasts would be able to have an obstruction free view of heritage structures in Old City.
The district administration has directed the agencies concerned to ensure that all the dangling power cables are put underground. Besides, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has been asked to ensure cleanliness on the entire heritage stretch from Tile Wali Masjid to Chhota Imambada.
The district magistrate issued the order in a meeting with officials of the Archaeological Survey of India, LMC, LDA Hussainabad and Allied Trust (HAT) to ensure beautification of the heritage stretch.
“Dangling wires are a big nuisance. LMC and other agencies will ensure that all the wires that not only obstruct the view but also pose hazard to lives, should be put underground,” said Kaushal Raj Sharma, district magistrate. He also directed officials to ensure that the area is free from hoardings/banners that hinder the view of heritage structures.
The area was declared a ‘no hoarding zone’ in 2015.
“Old City is a beautiful area dotted by world famous monuments. It is also seen that hoardings in these areas often block the view of these structures. Thus, we are declaring it a ‘no hoarding zone,” read the district administration’s order to LMC at that time. The area houses monuments including Bada Imambada, Chhota Imambada, Rumi Gate, Clock Tower, Satkhanda, Jama Masjid and others.
