Woman ‘pushed’ off fourth floor, dies

LUCKNOW: A 25-year-old woman, mother of two, died allegedly after being pushed from the fourth floor on Sunday, police said. The cops have detained the woman’[s husband and started investigat­ion into the matter.

“The woman Khushboo was found dead in a residentia­l colony in Laulai village of Chinhat. Her family blamed her husband Raja Gupta for her death. We have arrested the accused for interrogat­ion,” said station house officer (SHO) of Chinhat police station Raj Kumar Singh.

According to the family, Khushboo had gone to her paternal home in Barabanki for Raksha Bandhan. The couple had an argument when she returned home in the evening. Her brother Manoj Gupta was also present at the time of the incident.

“Raja was in an inebriated state and started abusing my sister. He also hit her repeatedly and then pushed her off the balcony,” said Manoj. The family rushed Khushboo to Ram Manohar Hospital in Lucknow where the doctors pronounced her dead.

In a police complaint, the family blamed Raja for the death . Based on their complaint, police have registered an FIR and charged Raja under Section 302(murder), 498 A(cruelty by

husband or relatives of husband) and other sections of the IPC.

The body has been sent for autopsy. Meanwhile, Raja has denied the allegation and alleged that the woman committed suicide after jumping off the balcony.
