UPRERA panel holds session with home-buyers

LUCKNOW UP Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UPRERA) chairman Rajive Kumar has set a three month deadline to dispose of all pending complaints and disputes between homebuyers and realtors.

Kumar said this at an interactio­n with the home-buyers here on Monday aimed at listening to their grievances and problems. “We were asked to give our complaint in writing. This was the second face-toface meet with buyers organised by the UPRERA ever since the appointmen­t of former chief secretary Rajive Kumar as its full-time chairman. The first such meeting with home-buyers was held in Noida on August 16 where the authority has decided to set up a separate bench in view of the large number of complaints from this region.

A large number of buyers attended the meeting and narrated their problems and delay in project delivery and how they have been duped by realtors, who have collected huge sums of money from them. The UPRERA panel, which also included other three-members, namely, Balvinder Kumar, Bhanu Pratap Singh and Kalpana Mishra, gave patient hearing to the allottees. “Maximum complaints were received against Rohtas, Ansal API and the Lucknow Developmen­t Authority (LDA),” said Rehan Khan, another allottee.

Allottees of LDA’s various housing schemes also narrated their woes about of lack of civic amenities, services and delay in handing over the possession of their flats/houses by the civic body. The meeting has rekindled the hope of thousands of home-buyers, who have been similarly duped by realtors, and are looking up to UPRERA to secure their interest.

Lucknow occupies third place after Greater Noida/ Noida and Ghaziabad in terms of number of complaints receivced by UPRERA from disgruntle­d home-buyers. “We have received 4,748 complaints from allottees of various cities. Greater Noida/Noida lead the pack with 1,742 complaints followed by 589 from Ghaziabad and 554 from Lucknow,” said an official of the authority.

Other prominent cities from where home-buyers had filed complaints included Bareilly 510, Agra 476, Aligarh 497, Allahabad/Jhansi etc 13.
