Din in Parishad as Oppn seeks CM’s resignatio­n

LUCKNOW : The state government presented the supplement­ary budget in the Vidhan Parishad amid a huge uproar by the Opposition demanding chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s resignatio­n over what it called the ‘worsening’ law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh.

As the house assembled at 11am, the Opposition members trooped into the well of the house and shouted slogans, prompting the chair to adjourn the house for half-an-hour.

The adjournmen­t was extended for another half-anhour. The SP members were already in the well before the house could reassemble.

Gradually, members of other opposition parties, including the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Congress, joined them.

all started creating a ruckus. The SP members demanded the CM’s resignatio­n over ‘increasing incidents of crimes, especially against women’.

Leader of the house and deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma presented the supplement­ary budget-2018-19 and principal secretary, Vidhan Parishad, Rajesh Singh tabled 11 Acts amid the pandemoniu­m. After half-anhour, chairman Ramesh Yadav adjourned the house till Tuesday.
