Postal banks will help unleash economic revolution: Rajnath

LUCKNOW : Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) will widen the reach of banking services.

“The successful rollout of the IPPB will help in unleashing a new economic revolution in India,” he tweeted on a day on which he attended the launch function of the IPPB in Lucknow.

Singh reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sentiment that through the India Post Payments Bank, banking services will convenient­ly reach the remotest places in the country, and the people living there.

The first five account holders were given away QR Card by the minister.

A special cover was also released on this occasion.

Chief Postmaster General, Uttar Pradesh, Vinaya Prakash Singh said 73 branches of India Post Payments Bank and 292 Access Points were being started across the state.

TheIndia Post Payments Bank will work through various means, including counter operations, door-to-door service, mobile and internet banking etc.

Singh said the post office was facilitati­ng the needs of the people with innovative technology in areas such as savings, insurance, e-commerce.

Krishna Kumar Yadav, director, Postal Services (Lucknow region) said the postman delivering the letters will now come with ‘Mobile App’ and make true the concept of “Aapka Bank, Aapke Dwar”.
