LUCKNOW: Irked over question paper leak and postponement of exam conducted by UP Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UPSSSC), hundreds of candidates who came to Lucknow to take the test on Sunday morning staged protest in Charbagh.

They raised slogans against the state government. On getting information, police reached the spot and dispersed the protesting candidates. Passengers heading towards Charbagh railway station and bus depot faced inconvenience due to the protests.

As many as 60,743 candidates were to take the exam at 120 centres in Lucknow. They had started converging at Charbagh from different districts since Saturday. After the news of paper leak spread, the candidates lost

patience and staged protest at Charbagh railway station and bus depot.

They alleged that the question paper got leaked due to the negligence of government officials. Many of them claimed that they were unemployed and would find it difficult to come to Lucknow again for writing the exam. The irate candidates entered reserved compartments of trains and did not let passengers

occupy their seats. Even senior citizens and women had to face their ire.

This was not the first time that candidates of this exam faced problem.

In 2016, vacant positions for tubewell operators were announced. Thousands of unemployed youth pinned hopes on the exam to get a job. But with the change of government, the entire exercise came to a halt.
