Yogi launches apps for KV darshan, NRI convention
Adityanath appeals to people of Varanasi to give a grand welcome to guests during the NRI meet to be held on Jan 2123 next year
VARANASI: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday launched two apps, one for the convenience of devotees and other for the benefit of Non-Resident Indian (NRI) guests who will visit the city for the NRI convention scheduled here from January 21 to 23 next year.
The Sugam Darshan app allows devotees to register for easy darshan at the Kashi Vishwanath temple. The Kashi Atithya App, will facilitate registration of those who are willing to let NRI guests stay in their homes during the NRI convention.
“The NRI convention is a very crucial event for all of us. It provides an occasion to the Indians living in different countries to connect with the land of their ancestors,” the chief minister said, addressing prominent citizens of Varanasi at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Trade Facilitation Centre during the launch.
He laid emphasis on making arrangements for the stay of NRI guests in the houses of over 2,000 families of Varanasi.
“Kashiites willing to provide accommodation to NRI guests should register themselves on the Kashi Atithya App,” he suggested. Calling upon each Banarsi to ensure his participation in the event, he said: “Over 7,000 NRIs will attend the convention in Kashi.
With the spirit of Atithi Devo Bhava, give a grand and warm welcome to the Non-Resident Indians as per the tradition of Kashi so that they go back with pleasant memories and imprints of the rich cultural heritage of the city.”
He also instructed the authorities to launch a massive cleanliness drive in lanes, roads and intersections.

should be organised in every area of the city, he said.
The chief minister also said rallies, including boat rallies, should be organised from time to time to create awareness about the NRI convention.
He said mural paintings depicting importance of Kashi and its culture should be drawn.
Signage and billboards with welcome messages in various Indian languages should be put up across the Kashi, he said.
Several prominent residents of Varanasi assured the chief minister of full cooperation. They included Dr Ajit Sahgal, Keshav Jalan, Ramsudhar Singh, Anuj Didvania, BS Subramaniyam, Chilla Annapurna of Shringeri Mutt, Sevi Waredkar of the Marathi community, Devashis Das of the Bengali community, Ramnarayan Dwivedi of the Kashi Vidvat Manch and Rajeshwar Acharya of the Kashi artists’ fraternity.
Dr Sahgal said arrangements for the stay of 100 Non-Resident Indians would be made in the houses of doctors with the help of the private nursing homes association and the Indian Medical Association.
Didvania assured 150 flats would be made available for the Non-Resident Indian guests. Chilla Annapurna took the responsibility of providing hospitality to 10 Non-Resident Indians.
The Annapurna Mutt’s representative said all 7,000 guests will be offered one-time meal, a picture of Goddess Annapurna, prasad and auspicious rice.
