LUCKNOW: The BJP on Sunday held its OBC cell meeting where deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya exhorted the backwards to ensure Prime Minister Narendra Modi got a second stint in office.

Maurya also coined a slogan, “vishwas karo tum Modi pe, ye naye yug ka nirmata hai, aisa neta dharti par bas ek baar hi aata hai (have trust in Modi for he has ushered in a new era, such a leader comes to the earth only once)” to inspire the cadre. Maurya, UP BJP’s OBC face, said the opposition fearing a complete washout was ganging up to stop PM Modi.

“However there is no need to waste time on them for the people have seen through their opportunistic gameplan. The nation wants an honest, straightforward and committed politician who is working tirelessly for the country’s development,” Maurya said.

The deputy CM reminded the OBC audience how things were changing under Modi. “Under Congress rule gas connections were hard to come by and mostly came at a price. Under Modiji 89 lakh gas connections have been given free of cost under Ujjawala scheme,” Maurya said.

The deputy CM also spoke of the Ayushman Bharat initiative of PM Modi under which poor would get health insurance of up to ₹5 lakh. “Now, with the launch of Indian Payments Bank the PM has ensured that banking services reach your doorstep,” he said.

State chief of OBC Morcha Rajesh Verma said, “No matter how much they gang up, the opposition would bite dust again.”
