Statue of Ram with Nishadraj to come up at Shringverpur
LUCKNOW : The Yogi Adityanath government has allocated ₹34 crore to develop Shringverpur, around 45 km from Allahabad, as another tourist destination that has a mythological connect. The place will now have a statue of Lord Ram and Nishadraj. And this will not be a simple statue-both Lord Ram and Nishadraj will be seen embracing each other. Shringverpur is the place from where Lord Ram with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman crossed the Ganga while proceedings on his 14-year exile.
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said the Nishad, Bind and Kashyap communities should get the benefit of job reservation applicable to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
The community has been demanding inclusion in the Schedule Caste category but the issue is pending in Allahabad high court.
“The government is seriously pursuing the case in the high court. The previous Samajwadi Party government messed up everything by poor representation in the court,” he said at a conference of the backward communities. The former SP government had recommended inclusion of Batham, Kahar, Nishad, Mallah, Majhi, Tura, Gaur, Rajbhar, Kashyap, Kewat, Bind, Bhar, Prajapati, Kumhar, Machua and Dheemar in subcastes of the Schedule Caste category. But the decision was challenged in Allahabad high court.
SHRINGVERPUR TO HAVE STATUE OF RAM EMBRACING NISHADRAJ
The Yogi government has allocated a budget of ₹34 crore to develop Shringverpur, around 45 km from Allahabad, as another tourist destination that has a mythological connect. The place will now have a statue of Lord Ram and Nishadraj. And this will not be a simple statue-- both Lord Ram and Nishadraj will be seen embracing each other.
“A statue of Lord Ram and Lord Nishadraj will come up in Shringverpur. The place will also be developed as a tourist destination,” said the chief minister.
The Yogi government’s move is also being viewed as an effort to mobilize the Nishad community before 2019 Lok Sabha polls as the community has considerable sway in eastern Uttar Pradesh, especially in Gorakhpur region, the area represented by chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
Shringverpur is associated with Nishadraj, king of the fishermen community, and in ancient India was also the capital of the Nishadraj kingdom. In Hindu epic Ramayan, Shringverpur has a specific mention.
It was from this place that Lord Ram along with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman crossed the Ganga while proceedings on his 14-year exile.
Nishadraj had helped them cross the Ganga and Lord Ram had embraced Nishadraj after crossing the river.
