Ajit on ‘Sadbhav Badhao’ mission to revive RLD’s winning equation
MEERUT: Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) president Ajit Singh is carrying out ‘Sadbhav Badhao’ campaign in his home turf, west UP, to win over voters. The objective of the campaign is to revive RLD’s winning equation of Jats and Muslims in west UP.
Beginning his campaign from Muslim and Jat dominated Budhana town of Muzaffarnagar on Friday, Singh called upon the people not to fall in the trap of divisive politics of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) whose only aim is to divide people on the lines of caste and religion.
During the campaign, Singh raised the issues of pending sugarcane payment, hike in electricity bills, deteriorating law and order, spiraling petrol and diesel prices and devaluation of rupee.
He asked the people to revive faith in each other and build a strong country and society.
He addressed a public meeting in which he appealed to the people to restore peace and brotherhood and held the BJP responsible for the deteriorating economic condition of the country.
Singh also addressed a rally in Khatauli town of the district and appealed the people to help each other and live peacefully. A group of supporters asked Singh to contest from Muzaffarnagar seat in the forthcoming general elections to which he did not respond.
RLD has entered into an alliance with the Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Congress
which worked well in Kairana Lok Sabha and Noorpur assembly by elections where BJP candidates lost both the seats.
Ahead of the elections, Singh and his son Jayant Chaudhary preferred to hold small meetings in those villages which were affected during Muzaffarnagar riots in 2013.
According to political analysts, holding small meetings worked well for the RLD and they won over the farmers by coining the slogan of “Jinnah or ganna (sugarcane)”. Besides seeking support of Jats and Muslims, RLD and its allies are trying to woo OBC and dalits which may come as a big challenge for the BJP.
