Govt asks officials to tighten noose around land mafia
LUCKNOW: Principal secretary, home, Arvind Kumar on Sunday said the state government had directed the officers of all districts to take strict action against land mafia and elements involved in unlawful activities.
The state government had constituted a land mafia task force to take prompt action as soon as complaints were received against illegal possession of government land or private properties in the state. In a statement, Kumar said instructions had been given to all the IGs, DIGs and SPs to take effective measures to prevent occurrence of such incidents.
“Senior police officers have been directed to visit the spot immediately after any such incident is reported. They have been asked to initiate necessary action to prevent recurrence of such incidents,” he said. The state police have also been directed to be on alert in view of Moharram and maintain strict vigil to maintain communal harmony. “The officers will constantly monitor the situation through police picketing and patrolling and take strict action against anti-social elements,” he said. Kumar added that the district officers should strengthen their information and notification system. “During Moharrum, traffic management should be ensured keeping in view the sensitivity of traffic awareness and local conditions so that citizens do not face any inconvenience,” he added.
