ALLAHABAD: Union minister for minority affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Sunday said employment oriented programmes of the Modi Government like ‘Hunar Haat’ have encouraged and promoted the rich traditional heritage of master artisans which had been marginalised for a long time.

Naqvi inaugurated the ‘Hunar Haat’ at North Central Zone Cultural Centre, Near Circuit House in Allahabad. The event, organised by the union ministry of minority affairs, will continue till September 16.

Naqvi said ‘Hunar Haat’ had been successful in providing national and international markets and employment opportunities to master artisans and craftsmen. “Hunar Haat has become a credible and renowned brand where exquisite handicraft and handloom made by master artisans and various delicacies from across the country are available under one roof,” he added. Naqvi said ‘Hunar Haat’ was being organised by his ministry at various places across the country.

“It has provided opportunities to master artisans and craftsmen. Also, master artisans in large numbers have been provided employment,” the minister said. Naqvi further said ‘Hunar Haat’ had become a credible brand to fulfil Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment of ‘Make in India’ and other such initiatives.

“During the last one year, ‘Hunar Haat’ has been successful in providing employment and employment opportunities to

more than 1 .18 lakh artisans and other people associated with them. Our target is to provide

employment opportunities to about 5 lakh people through it,” he added.
