Increase CSR funding in state, CM urges corporate houses
LUCKNOW : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday urged corporate houses to increase their corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding in the state, especially in the Swachh Bharat mission and Sanskrit vi dy a lay as.
He made this request at the first corporate social responsibility conclave in which many industrialists were present.
Addressing the gathering, the CM said: “Uttar Pradesh is now leading in the Swachh Bharat campaign. It is only possible due to cooperation by the industry.”
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Swachh Bharat campaign on October 2, 2014. When we came to power, only 45% of the people had personal toilets. Now, after a baseline survey, 96% of the people have toilets,” said the CM.
In the past 16 months, 1.35 crore toilets have been constructed in the state, added the CM. “If by October 2, we are able to provide toilets to the remaining people, then UP will be declared open defecation free,” he pointed out. Expressing concern over dilapidated buildings of Sanskrit vidyalayas across UP, he urged industrialists to invest CSR funds in improving the condition of these institutions run by the department of secondary education, UP government.
“Due to poor maintenance, buildings of Sanskrit vidyalayas across the state are in a dilapidated condition,” said the CM.
The CM also apprised the gathering about the progress made by UP in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
“When we (BJP) came to power, UP was nowhere as regards implementation of PMAY. Now, we (UP) are number one in the country in implementing the scheme,” said the CM.
The Yogi Adityanath government has made 11 lakh houses available to the poor in the state.
The CM also urged industrialists to invest CSR funds in development projects in villages. He asked industrialists to help develop play grounds in villages, wellness centres, gymnasiums and skill development centres at blocks and tehsils in UP.
On the occasion, the CM also launched a new portal of UP corporate social responsibility, www.upcsr.org
