Schoolkids excited about meeting b’day boy Modi

Students and teachers are making posters carrying greetings for birthday party of the local MP on September 17

VARANASI : Students of primary school in Naraur area here are eagerly waiting to meet PM Narendra Modi during his proposed visit to their school on September 17 that also happens to the PM’s 68th birthday. Vaishnavi, a class 4 student at the school, wishes to greet the PM.

“PM Modi will be with us on September 17. I will wish him birthday. I think, Modiji will get some sweets for us,” said Vaishnavi. The little angel also wishes to present a flower to the PM. Similarly, Shubham and other students are equally excited to meet Modi.

While some are busy drawing posters, others have already prepared them with messages like ‘Welcome to Modi Ji’ and ‘Happy Birthday Modi Ji’.Samar Kumar Vishwakarm­a, another student of the same class, is planning to recite a poem before the PM. It is a big occasion for teachers as well. “This is a great and once-ina-lifetime opportunit­y for all of us to welcome PM to my school,” primary school headmistre­ss Chandravat­i Singh said, thanking PM Modi for selecting their school to celebrate his birthday.

She along with the team of teachers is busy in preparatio­ns for the event.Madhulika Pandey, headmistre­ss of the upper primary school said, “This is a matter of great joy. We are making preparatio­ns to accord a warm welcome to PM Modi at our school.” Modi is proposed to interact with 200 children, including 75 at Naraur School, from schools in adjoining areas during his visit to his parliament­ary constituen­cy. Meanwhile, the school has been whitewashe­d and road leading to the school is being widened. “We are making preparatio­ns for the likely visit of the PM. Most of preparatio­ns have already been completed,” basic siksha adhikari Jai Singh said.

Divisional commission­er Deepak Agarwal, district magistrate Surendra Singh, senior superinten­dent of police (SSP) Sureshrao Anand Kulkarni and SPG officials carried out inspection at the school.

This will be for the first time when Modi will celebrate his birthday in Varanasi.

An official, who did not wish to be named, said the PM would offer prayers at Kashi Vishwanath temple and watch a short film ‘Chalo Jeeten Hain’ with about 2,000 schoolchil­dren.
