GSVM senior prof resigns alleging harassment by HoD
KANPUR Alleging harassment and mental torture by head of the department of ophthalmology, a senior associate professor at the GSVM Medical College has submitted her resignation to the principal and the government.
GSVM principal Dr Navneet Kumar said Dr Shalini Mohan, a cornea replacement and glaucoma specialist, has informed him about the matter through SMS.
“It is not a big issue. The matter would be resolved during a joint sitting,” Kumar said.
Dr Mohan, in her resignation letter, has alleged that HoD professor Parvez Ahmad has been harassing her due to which she was under serious depression.
She alleged that recently following the directives of the CMO she took out an eye donation awareness rally in association with a NGO Saksham and invited mayor Pramila Pandey as the chief guest with the permission of the HoD.
But after the rally the HoD called her and demanded a written explanation as to why she took out the rally and invited the mayor, she said.
She said she also warned against repeating the mistake.
“Besides, the HoD removed me from the post of in charge glaucoma clinic and gave the charge to a junior doctor. I was also harassed through RTI enquiries,” said Dr Mohan.
When contacted, Ahmad refused to comment over the issue and said since it was interdepartmental matter, it would be resolved through dialogue.
