LUCKNOW Allahabad’s Tasleem Bano and Siran won the women’s doubles title at the State Women’s Table Tennis Tournament, defeating Tanu Solanki and Kushi Sharma of Faizabad 11-7, 11-8, 6-11, 11-8, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium here on Wednesday. Lucknow’s Gun Gun Sahu claimed the singles crown, outplaying Simran Nigam 7-11, 11-5, 11-7, 8-11, 11-8. In aquatics, Lucknow’s Vidushi Sangwal stole the limelight, winning a golden double.
She emerged fastest in the 100m back stroke first and then finished top in the 200m individual medley. Vandana Sahani and Sagriti Maurya also won gold medals in 200m free style and 200m back stroke, respectively.

Shanker Kuldeep with highest 4.5 points won the 13th Lucknow District Open Chess Championship here on Wednesday. Pawan Batham with four points finished runners-up, whereas Anuj Yadav with 3.5 points had to satisfy with third place.
