LUCKNOW: Now, teachers who retire from state-run medical institutes will be re-employed to fill vacancies in the seven new and five under construction medical colleges in the state.

As per the government order, the re-employed teachers will get a salary of ₹2,20,000 per month and the post of professor (consultant) on selection.

The offer will be given to teachers who have completed their service and retired from medical colleges.

This provision has been introduced for seven new colleges in Azamgarh, Banda, Ambedkanagar, Jalaun, Kannauj, Saharanpur, Badaun and five under construction medical colleges in Shahjahanpur, Firozabad, Basti, Faizabad and Bahraich.

The appointment will be through application against an advertisement that will be issued by the department of medical education or the respective college.

A committee, with the college principal as its chairperson, will recommend the names of applicants found eligible for the posts. “The re-employment will be done by the department of medical education,” said principal secretary, medical education, Rajneesh Dubey.

Getting teachers for medical colleges in these 12 districts was a prime concern, as young faculty members were not willing to join despite efforts by the medical education department, location being a key reason behind the reluctance.

Hence the proposal for re-employment of retired teachers was introduced, as adequate number of teachers is necessary to get permission from the Medical Council of India for admission to MBBS and other medical courses.

The process of re-employment is likely to begin by October.

AS PER THE GOVT ORDER, REEMPLOYED TEACHERS WILL GET A SALARY OF ₹2,20,000 PER MONTH AND THE POST OF PROFESSOR (CONSULTANT) ON SELECTION
