LUCKNOW: Health minister Sidharth Nath Singh on Tuesday said disciplinary action will be taken against the chief medical officers (CMOs) of the districts in which the health services were poor.

He directed the additional directors and joint directors to visit the districts allotted to them to review the health facilities and submit a report.

Singh issued these directives while reviewing the health services and facilities in the eight districts selected by Niti Aayog. The state government had launched a programme in all the districts to check malnutrition, he said, adding the effort was paying dividends.

He also said the availability of the doctors in the selected districts had been increased from 50% to 80%. The availability of the medicine, ambulance and para medical staff had been also ensured in the districts, he said.

The minister told the CMOs to maintain transparency in their work and monitor health services.

He said health and wellness centres have been established in eight districts. Under the vaccination programme, 1.36 lakh children and 44,589 pregnant women have been immunised in the districts.

In a separate programme, Singh said the health workers were directed to pay house-tohouse visits in the districts that were in grip of viral disease. Health camps were set up in the sensitive areas to provide immediate treatment to the patients.

The assistance of the panchayati raj department, the rural development department and the urban development department had been taken to launch sanitation drive, clear water logging and control mosquito menace. The CMOs of the affected districts were directed to prepare a work plan and constitute rapid response teams to provide quick health services in the districts, he said.

He said health teams had been dispatched to the districts in which outbreak of the communicable disease were reported. As many as 329 nine teams were deputed in Bareilly, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit, Hardoi, Kheri, Bahraich and Sitapur districts. The availability of medicines had been ensured in the government hospitals and awareness programmes had been launched to educate the people to take preventive measures, he said.
