LUCKNOW : A day after a video showing policemen assaulting a Hindu girl for befriending a Muslim went viral, another one surfaced showing the VHP cadre assaulting the Muslim youth on Wednesday. The girl meanwhile made the sensational allegation that VHP cadres built pressure on her to register a fake rape or molestation case against her Muslim friend. The Meerut police filed FIRs against 18 named VHP cadre.

The girl meanwhile made the sensational allegation that VHP cadres built pressure on her to register a fake rape or molestation case against her Muslim friend.
All this happened even as another video, this time of the Muslim youth being thrashed by youths allegedly from the VHP went viral.
The two viral videos sparked a furore, forcing the police to act against VHP men barely a day after three policemen had been suspended for their shocking behaviour. The Meerut police on Wednesday filed FIRs against 18 named VHP cadres and several others for the traumatic treatment of the interfaith couple.
The 20-year old woman, a fourth year nursing student at a Meerut college, told the media in Meerut that she was studying in her friend’s room in Meerut’s Jagriti Vihar colony when several VHP cadres forced them to open the door.
“They started assaulting us immediately in full public view and levelled wild and humiliating allegations at us. Soon, the police arrived and took us in a jeep to the police station. On the way, the policemen removed the cloth with which I had covered my face, assaulted me while using filthy language against me,” she said.

At the police station, the VHP men started building pressure on her to level fake rape or molestation charges on her Muslim friend. “We will let you go if only you level these charges at him,” the victim recalled.
She said, “What was more shocking was the fact that my video shot on mobile was made public by the police. Now, they have shamed me in the public eye.”
The girl’s mother said, “When I reached police station, there were several VHP cadres at the police station. I spoke to my daughter and found out that there was not an iota of truth in the wild accusations levelled against my daughter.”
After the horrifying treatment, the victim said she was too scared to continue her nursing studies.
The VHP leaders appeared unmoved by the widespread condemnation their act had received nationally.
“We are committed to protecting Hindu girls from falling prey to love jihad. We will repeat this again if we see Muslim youths trying to fox Hindu girls,” a VHP leader said.
