Why action against partymen, asks Babbar

-

LUCKNOW : State Congress chief Raj Babbar has sought an explanation from the Allahabad unit for action taken against three partymen, who reportedly raised ‘Bum Bhole’ slogans during Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Allahabad on September 28, 2018.

“I have asked Allahabad District Congress Committee president Anil Dwivedi to explain why action was taken against the three partymen for raising ‘Bum Bhole’ slogans. No action can be taken without UPCC’s approval,” said Babbar.

PARTY LEADER GETTING DEATH THREATS

Babbar on Wednesday alleged party leader Talat Aziz, who has pursued a case against Yogi Adityanath since 1999, and her family were getting death threats.

Last week, a notice was issued to chief minister Yogi Adityanath in the same case which has been listed in a court in Maharajganj for October 27.

Satya Prakash Yadav, the personal gunner of Aziz, who was then with Samajwadi Party, was allegedly shot dead during a communal clash at Bhitauli village in Maharajganj district on February 10, 1999.

In her complaint with the police at the time, Aziz had alleged that the gunner was shot dead in firing by a group led by Yogi Adityanath. Adityanath lodged a counter-case against Aziz.

Speaking to reporters here, Babbar said, “Her husband and she herself are being threatened. This is not a fight of caste or community. Accusations are being made against her husband. Her life is under threat. She has lodged a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) as well. She is fighting for justice to her gunner SP Yadav, who was killed in firing on February 10, 1999.”

Aziz, who was also present, briefed reporters about the Maharajganj incident. The police had registered an FIR against Yogi in the case on February 10, 1999, she said. While she lodged an FIR, Yogi filed a counter-FIR on February 11, 1999, she said.

Aziz said the then BJP government got the case closed following an inquiry by the CB-CID. She said the CB-CID closed the case saying there was cross firing from both the sides.
