35 PILGRIMS IN DOUBLE DECKER BUS INJURED AFTER IT FALLS INTO DITCH
KANPUR : About 35 pilgrims in a double decker bus were seriously injured when it overturned and fell into a ditch after being hit by a dumper on Jhansi-Mirzapur National Highway, near Tarkhava Pulia in Bhauri village under Raipura police station, at around 4 am on Thursday. The bus was carrying about 60 passengers to Allahabad for performing “Pind Daan” in the Ganga.
KANPUR: About 35 pilgrims in a double decker bus were seriously injured when it overturned and fell into a ditch after being hit by a dumper on Jhansi-Mirzapur National Highway, near Tarkhava Pulia in Bhauri village under Raipura police station, at around 4 am on Thursday.
The bus was carrying about 60 passengers to Allahabad for performing “Pind Daan” in the Ganga.
A large number of villagers rushed to the site to take rescue the passenger on hearing their screams.
The police also reached the spot within half an hour of getting information and helped in rescue operation. All the injured passengers were taken to the district hospital.
The bus was travelliing from Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh and had reached Chitrakoot via Mahar on Wednesday. The pilgrims took rest at Hanumandhara and left for Allahabad in early in morning on Thursday.
As the bus reached near Bhauri village near the JhansiMirzapur National Highway and was to cross the under constructed Tarkhav Puliya a dumper, coming from the opposite direction, hit the bus. The bus driver lost his control and it fell into a deep ditch.
District magistrate Vishakh Singh and the sub-divisional magistrate, Sadar, Indu Prakash Singh visited the injured passengers in hospital.
