Nearly 19,031 eligible students, including 13,454 males and 5,577 females, will use their right to vote to elect new office bearers of the AUSU from 8am. The varsity administration has set up 44 polling booths for the polling.
“All arrangements are complete. Polling will start at 8am and continue till 2pm. Girls will vote at 15 booths set up at six polling stations on Women’s College campus while boys will exercise their franchise at 29 booths set up at 14 polling stations on the arts faculty/senate campus,” informed returning officer prof RK UPadhyaya on Thursday.
He said the students would be allowed to enter the arts faculty campus for voting from the varsity gate located opposite KPUC hostel and they would be allowed to leave the campus from the central library gate.
“Students need to bring their valid identity cards and fee receipts. Right at the entry point specially put up hoardings will inform the students about the booths where they are to vote. This information has also been made available online on a dynamic dedicated website http://ausuelection2018. in,” he added.
He further said students can enter their identity card number on the site and get the exact details of the polling centre where they can cast their vote even before coming to the campus. He said tight security would be maintained in the immediate vicinity of the campus.
