100, including kids, ill after eating ‘prasad’ in Jalaun

KANPUR : At least 100 people, including 60-70 children, fell ill after eating ‘prasad’ at a religious event in Kabir Nagar in Orai, Jaluan late on Thursday night. Over two dozen children were rushed to the trauma centre at the district hospital. The condition of the children is stable and they were out of danger. A few elderly persons were admitted to government medical college.

Over two dozen children were rushed to the trauma centre at the district hospital. The condition of the children is stable and they are out of danger.

A few elderly persons were admitted to the government medical college.

Panic struck around midnight when the children started vomiting and complained of severe stomach ache following which the parents rushed them to the

district hospital.

The children have been discharged from the hospital after treatment, said Dr Sanjiv Agarwal.

Dr Agarwal said that according to the parents, the children had eaten ladoos distribute­d at a religious event in the locality and suffered from food poisoning.

CMO Dr Alpana Bartaria said

all the patients have recovered and are out of danger. Meanwhile, the district authoritie­s have collected the samples of the sweets.

Additional SP Surendra Tiwari said the police are trying to find the shops from where the ladoos were purchased and the organisers are also being questioned.
