Muz’nagar man killed over personal dispute, body found in sugarcane field

MUZAFFARNA­GAR: The body of a 38-year-old man, missing since Thursday night, was recovered from a sugarcane field in Muzaffarna­gar district on Friday morning.

Police said on the basis of the FIR lodged by the victim’s father, one person had been taken into the custody and was being interrogat­ed.

Sources said the deceased, Vikas (name as mentioned in FIR), resident of village Tissa under Bhopa police circle, was allegedly killed due to a dispute with one Kaliram and his son Arun.

In the FIR, the victim’s father Kaluram, who lives in Haridwar district, stated that on Thursday night, Kaliram of village Tissa phoned him and said that Vikas had abused him and that he would kill him.

Kaliram said he and his two other sons Sonu and Anuj left immediatel­y for Tissa village where two locals, Sunil and Gyanenda, informed them that Kaliram and Arun had been consuming alcohol with Vikas and later, they had assaulted him.

Sunil and Gyanendra said that they had intervened and Kaliram and Arun had moved away.

However, when Vikas did not return till late Thursday night,

Kaluram and his family again started searching for him.

It was only at 6 am on Friday that Vikas’ motorbike was found near the field of one Anees on Jolly road.

A few paces away, his body was found lying in a sugarcane field that was submerged in two feet of water.

Police said Kaluram alleged that his son was assaulted and drowned in the submerged field and demanded immediate action in the matter.

“The body was sent for postmortem examinatio­n. We will know more once we receive the PM report,” said station officer Bhopa, Dr BB Singh.

He said Arun had been taken into custody and was being interrogat­ed. “We are searching for Kaliram,” he added.
