Most of our construction work in the area is complete. Some of the pending work will be completed soon.”

LUCKNOW:Good news for Ganjing buffs! You will be able to stroll down your favourite street by Diwali. Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) officials claim that one will be able to enjoy a hassle-free walk along Hazratganj within three weeks.

“Our effort is to give Lucknowites a Diwali gift by completing the work on the Ganj road and open a whole road from Moti Mahal to DM’s residence. Most of our construction work in the area is complete. Some of the pending work will be completed soon.”

LMRC officials added, “The underground track-laying work from Charbagh to KD Singh Babu Stadium is also complete and whatever is left will be completed soon. Some of the barricading has been removed but some of it is still will stay till the road is fully constructed.”

“I am glad that Lucknowites will be able to enjoy Ganjing, without having to worry about traffic snarls, congestion,” said Hazratganj Traders’ Association president KC Bhambwani.

It would be great if the road starts again as the traders have suffered losses during the time the metro construction was going on, said another trader of Ganj.

The completion of the Hazratganj metro stretch in a quick time is important, says historian and Navyug Girls Post Graduate College history department head Dr Shobha Mishra.

She said that the area is as important for Lucknow as Connaught Place is for Delhi, for the place has been the heart of city for the last 150 years because of its ability to attract even the British, besides the elite of Lucknow,

in the pre-independence era.

LMRC MD Kumar Keshav said, “LMRC has always completed its work before time. This speaks loads about the professional skills of LMRC officials and staff.”
