Video of guards beating up patient’s attendant goes viral

LUCKNOW : A video of security guards beating up a patient’s attendant with a rifle butt and cane at the trauma centre surfaced on Tuesday.

Officials said they had seen the viral video and will find out when this incident took place.

In this 28-second clip, a private guard was seen holding the victim’s leg while four others assaulted him.

The attendant was kicked and beaten up with a rifle butt.

The security guard could be heard shouting, “How dare you beat any private security guard. There are 400 beds in the trauma centre and most of them remain occupied and hence there is a lot of pressure from patients’ attendants for beds.”

Private security guards had been deployed at the trauma centre to ensure safety on the campus.

It is said that on October 3, one of the patients’ attendants mounted pressure on a security guard to get him a bed for his patient.

He allegedly also misbehaved with the private guards.

The private guards reportedly called their other colleagues, dragged the attendant and beat him up mercilessly.

The victim cried for help but nobody turned up to rescue him.

The KGMU administration is tight-lipped over the incident. When contacted, Dr Santosh Kumar, in-charge media cell, said it was too early to nail any particular guard.

The matter needs to be investigated and whosoever is found guilty, will be dealt with severely, he added.
