GORAKHPUR: Union road transport, highways and shipping minister Nitin Gadkari and chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday laid the foundation stones of several projects, including the ring road and national waterway project in Basti. They also laid the foundation stone for roads, including National Highway 730, in Sidhharthnagar.

Gadkari said the Centre had taken steps to improve the condition of farmers.

He also said: “Sugarcane will be used to make the biofuel ethanol. A new technique has been developed to strengthen the country’s economy. The price of sugar and corn are decided in other countries of the world. So, our farmers are not able to get the full profit on their yield.”

“In the larger interest of farmers, the government has already given approval for making ethanol directly from sugarcane. The day is not far when auto-rick- shaws, buses and motorbikes will run on ethanol,” Gadkari added. CM Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said 50,000 personnel will be recruited into the police department. He also said, “50,000 more vacancies will arise soon in the police department. Without any discrimination, we have already recruited teachers and people in the police department.” Adityanath said many roads had become pothole-free in Uttar Pradesh and tehsils were connected to head quarter with at least two-lane roads.

“We maintained transparency and 11 lakh people will benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna. Eleven lakh families will get the chance to perform Grih Pravesh simultaneously. By November 30, all districts of the state will become open defecation free,” he said.

“Four-lane roads will be constructed in the Buddhist circuit to give a boost to tourism,” Adityanath added.
