VBSSC score yet another win

LUCKNOW : Gorakhpur’s Veer Bahadur Singh Sports College (VBSSC) continued their winning streak in the Nehru Hockey Tournament Girls Hockey Tournament, registerin­g a convincing 5-2 win against Nankana Sahib Public School in New Delhi on Tuesday. Sports College girls dominated the proceeding­s from the very start and were leading by 3-0 at the break. Though the rivals from Sangrur in Punjab scored two goals in the second half, they found the going tough. Shashikala, Ranjana, Kamini Tyagi, Ginni Abbi and Pushpanjal­i Sonkar scored for the winners, whereas Taranpreet Kaur struck both the goals for the losers.

COLLEGIATE CRICKET

The National PG College will be conducting the 20th Chandra Bhanu Gupta Memorial Inter PG Collegiate Cricket Tournament for Amit Singh Chauhan Trophy from October 11, at the CB Gupta ground here. In all 16 teams have confirmed their participat­ion in the event, final of which would be played October 16.

BIG WIN

Vidyant Hindu PG College beat Mumtaz PG College by 70 runs to make it to the quarterfin­al of the 47th Sundari Devi Inter PG Collegiate Cricket Tournament here on Tuesday.

VHPGC 175 for 4 in 20 overs (Arbaaz 63, Shobhit Awasthi 29, Aditya Sharma 28) beat MPGC 105 for 8 in 20 overs
