LUCKNOW: The Lucknow University, on Friday, claimed that on an average the feedback on faculty teaching and campus life was found to be quite good as almost 70% of the students ‘strongly agree’ or ‘agree’ with the faculty teaching and the other amenities and working of different offices of the university.

A meeting was held in the Malviya Hall of LU to openly discuss the feedback provided by the students online on various areas of functioning of the university like administrative functioning, teaching, etc for the academic session 2017-18. Vice chancellor SP Singh chaired the meeting which was attended by all deans of faculties, the heads of departments, controller of examination and all the faculty members including the faculty members of the self-finance courses.

“Lucknow University is taking the feedback as a corrective measure and not punitive. It may be noted that the identity of the students who are giving the feedback will never be revealed. The idea is to use the feedback for self improvement and improvisation in oneself and also the institutional system to excel in the field of higher education and place LU amongst the best of universities,” said LU spokesperson NK Pandey.

IQAC director Prof Rajeev Manohar gave an elaborate presentation through power point on the feedback received from the students both in the administrative and academic field. He took generalized and not individual approach in his presentation.

The university will take care of the percentage of disagreement coming on various issues such as drinking water and toilet facilities as the process of up-gradation of these facilities is already on priority and is being done by the funds provided under RUSA by the government.

Teachers also made certain suggestions regarding the questionnaire for the feedback from students. Later VC will meet some individual teachers as per the need, regarding the feedback received, Pandey said.

The VC said there was need for the teachers to appreciate the results of feedback.

He said that teachers, in addition to doing individual self growth, need to think for the institution also and work as a team so that the university is placed among the best.

He also pointed out that 80% of marks in the NAAC is now based on quantitative analysis of the data provided by the university and 20% on qualitative analysis by the peer review team of the NAAC. The feedback system used by the university is in line with the NAAC evaluation system.

LU, as a measure of self introspection, started online feedback system for the students by providing e - portal on its website from last year.

The university has taken this is step parallel to the NAAC’s practices of getting feedback directly online for accreditation of the university, VC said.
