Rafale themed pandal takes wings
LUCKNOW : The Rafale deal may have been mired in controversies but that has not deterred the Cantonment Durga Puja committee to set up its pandal on the theme of the fighter aircraft.
The organisers believe that invoking the goddess’ blessings will help upgrade and modernise the existing inventory of aircraft and weapon systems of the Indian Air Force (IAF) which in turn would help secure our nation.
“We are not getting into the controversy and want Maa Durga to clear all the hurdles. We are making two cutouts of Rafale aircraft. One of these will be kept around Durga mandap to seek the goddess blessings so that our air force gets the new combat system. Another will be kept for selfies,” said Nihar Ranjan Dey, media secretary of the committee.
The organisers of the committee, established in 1952, are hopeful that it will be a great attraction as nobody has thought on these lines.
“We always deal with patriotic theme. Last year we had given the pandal the theme of our national flag. The purpose was to instill the feeling of patriotism among the masses,” Dey said.
In addition, another attraction during the puja celebrations will be illuminated Chaar dhaam darshan via LED lights.
“We have roped in electricians from Chandan Nagar in West Bengal to create the set up. Last year too we had replicated France’s iconic Eiffel Tower (55ft),” he said.
