Mughal ‘descendant’ also questions delay

-

GORAKHPUR:Yaqub Habeebuddin Tucy, who claims to be great grandson of Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar, on Friday questioned the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Yogi Adityanath over the delay in construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Addressing a press conference, Habeebuddin and astrologer Dhanesh Mani Tripathi said despite repeated mails to the PM and CM on the issue, they were yet to receive a response.

He added that if the BJP failed to take any initiative in this direction, he would pave way for the construction of the temple by seeking help from allies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.

“Failing to get a response, I contacted Shakaracharya Swaroopanand who assured me of support from the saint community,” he said. Yaqoob said he had come to Gorakhpur to mobilise people for the construction of the temple and would go to Varanasi as well. “Before becoming CM, Yogi Adityanath gave statements that made us believe that Ram temple will be built in Ayodhya after he would become the CM. Now, he says it will happen when Lord Ram wishes. His predecessor and Hindu saint Mahant Avaidynath also wanted a temple at Ayodhya,” he said.

Tucy, who had earlier staked claim to the controversial Babri Masjid site, said he would hand over a ‘No objection certificate’ to President Ram Nath Kovind, seeking construction of the temple.
