Kolkata flow­ers to adorn God­dess, Ku­mari

LUC­KNOW: The gar­lands and flower or­na­ments which would be used to adorn the di­vine Ku­mari and God­dess Durga at Ra­makr­ishna Math here dur­ing all five days of Durga puja, would be flown in all the way from Kolkata . These ex­otic flow­ers are tuberoses, ra­jni­gandha, lo­tus, marigold and many oth­ers not eas­ily avail­able in the city.

“The di­vine Ku­mari and the God­dess would look gor­geous in ex­otic flower or­na­ments,” said Swami Muk­ti­nathananda, pres­i­dent of Ra­makr­ishna Math, on Satur­day. The or­gan­is­ers have placed their or­der with a prom­i­nent flower shop in Kolkata which will send them on a late night flight to Luc­know ev­ery day to be used the next day.

“We’ve placed or­der for big 108 lo­tuses that will be of­fered to the de­ity dur­ing Sandhi Puja to be held on Oc­to­ber 17 (Wed­nes­day) be­tween 12:26 pm to 1:14 pm,”Swami Muk­ti­nathananda said. Dur­ing this 48 min­utes’ cru­cial pe­riod, all the es­sen­tial rit­u­als of the en­tire Durga Puja were per­formed in a minia­ture form with great pre­ci­sion and rapid speed, while the Di­vine pres­ence of the Univer­sal Mother was pal­pa­bly felt by all those present, he said. Ra­makr­ishna Math has also roped in trained priests who will be as­sisted by a large team of com­pe­tent helpers.

The main con­duc­tor of the wor­ship (Tantrad­harak) would be Swami Satyavi­danan­daji who had come all the way from Ooty , Tamil Nadu, while Brah­macharya Pra­jna Chai­tanya of Ra­makr­ishna Math, Bengaluru (Kar­nataka) had come to per­form the wor­ship and Swami Tattwati­tananda Ma­haraj from Ra­makr­ishna Mis­sion In­sti­tute of Cul­ture, Gol Park, Kolkata, West Ben­gal would re­cite the scrip­tural book (Chandi), he said.

The Math has pur­chased two Ba­narasi sa­rees, one for the de­ity and an­other for the Ku­mari (young maiden) in whom the de­ity would be in­voked dur­ing wor­ship of Devi Durga in the form of a six-year-old maiden at 9 am on Wed­nes­day.
