Kolkata flowers to adorn Goddess, Kumari
LUCKNOW: The garlands and flower ornaments which would be used to adorn the divine Kumari and Goddess Durga at Ramakrishna Math here during all five days of Durga puja, would be flown in all the way from Kolkata . These exotic flowers are tuberoses, rajnigandha, lotus, marigold and many others not easily available in the city.
“The divine Kumari and the Goddess would look gorgeous in exotic flower ornaments,” said Swami Muktinathananda, president of Ramakrishna Math, on Saturday. The organisers have placed their order with a prominent flower shop in Kolkata which will send them on a late night flight to Lucknow every day to be used the next day.
“We’ve placed order for big 108 lotuses that will be offered to the deity during Sandhi Puja to be held on October 17 (Wednesday) between 12:26 pm to 1:14 pm,”Swami Muktinathananda said. During this 48 minutes’ crucial period, all the essential rituals of the entire Durga Puja were performed in a miniature form with great precision and rapid speed, while the Divine presence of the Universal Mother was palpably felt by all those present, he said. Ramakrishna Math has also roped in trained priests who will be assisted by a large team of competent helpers.
The main conductor of the worship (Tantradharak) would be Swami Satyavidanandaji who had come all the way from Ooty , Tamil Nadu, while Brahmacharya Prajna Chaitanya of Ramakrishna Math, Bengaluru (Karnataka) had come to perform the worship and Swami Tattwatitananda Maharaj from Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Gol Park, Kolkata, West Bengal would recite the scriptural book (Chandi), he said.
The Math has purchased two Banarasi sarees, one for the deity and another for the Kumari (young maiden) in whom the deity would be invoked during worship of Devi Durga in the form of a six-year-old maiden at 9 am on Wednesday.
