ALLAHABAD: The Special Task Force (STF) on Saturday arrested owners of two printing presses in connection with the BTC exam paper leak in Allahabad and Kaushambi districts.

The exam was cancelled after question papers were circulated widely on WhatsApp a day before the BTC examination on October 8.

The STF teams have arrested Ashish Agarwal of Mumfordganj area and Arvind Bhargawa of Kydganj locality.

STF SSP Abhishek Singh said the first question paper of the BTC fourth semester examinat went viral on WhatsApp on October 7, a day before the exam.

Later, inputs revealed that all the eight-question papers had gone viral. Taking serious note of the incident, STF teams began investigating the case.

Probe revealed that a printing press in Balrampur House area of Mumfordganj, Deepti Enterprises, was authorised to print the question papers and send them to the examination centres. Ashish Agarwal owns Deepti enterprises.

After getting the tender, Agarwal collaborated with Arvind Bhargawa, who also own a printing press.

The STF raided Bhargawa’s printing press at Mohtasimganj and Bai Ka Bagh localities where it found that no security measures were adopted while printing the question papers.

Anyone can access the computers on which the web pages or offset of question papers were designed.

The printing press employees can easily take photographs of the question papers through mobile phones and can even copy them to pendrives and other devices besides mailing the papers.

Special Task Force officials further informed that packets of question papers were not sealed before being taken to the examination centres. The arrested duo used to sell the leaked question papers and also used to provide solvers.

The STF team arrested Ashish Agarwal and Arvind Nhargawa and handed them over to Kaushambi police for further questioning and action against them.

Education department officials were informed about the security lapses at the printing press, which caused the paper leak, SSP STF added.
