Girl dies after returning from ‘Beti Bachao...’ event

HARDOI: A Class 9 student, Supriya Sharma, died here after returning from ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ function, organised on the occasion of Internatio­nal Day of the Girl Child.

The condition of the girl deteriorat­ed as soon as she returned home from the event.

She was suffering from high fever when her parents took her to the hospital, where she died during treatment.

The family of the girl accused the district authoritie­s of not making proper arrangemen­t at the event and of being careless.

“She went to attend the function. But the arrangemen­ts there were not up to the mark. Drinking water was not available. When my daughter came back home, she was suffering from high fever,” said the girl’s father.

Meanwhile, Basic Shiksha Adhikari, Hardoi, Hemant Rao, denied the allegation levelled by the family of the girl and said the

authoritie­s made all arrangemen­ts and that they were not responsibl­e for the girl’s death .

“Every facility, including medical and drinking water, was available . The accusation made by the family is baseless and the matter is being probed,” he said.

Around 11,000 school girls gathered here on Thursday to script a world record by taking an oath for ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign.

The initiative was taken by the district administra­tion and representa­tives of Eurasia World.
