Creative tribute to Dr Abdul Kalam

LUCKNOW: How about a fire-fighting device without any human interventi­on or smart dustbins? To celebrate the birth anniversar­y of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, a number of students put up an exhibition at Dr Kalam Innovation Gallery here at AKTU on Monday.

Students of Indraprast­ha Engineerin­g College, Ghaziabad designed a prototype of ‘Ceasefire’ – the firefighti­ng robot was designed for extinguish­ing fires and effectivel­y replacing firefighte­rs in highly dangerous situations to ensure their safety.

Students of United College of Engineerin­g and Research, Allahabad developed prototype of electronic dustbin that is able to distribute the waste according to its state as it can separate wet and dry waste, metal, plastic, etc.

WORLD STUDENTS’ WEEK

Avadh Girls’ PG College celebrated World Students’ Week from October 8-15 to mark the birth anniversar­y of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.

The students showcased their talent through various events that were held by the IQAC and the department­s of English and geography.

The week commenced with an essay-writing and creativewr­iting competitio­n on the topic ‘The Role of Students in Free India’, and ‘If I were the Education Minister….’ respective­ly. Nadia Ahmad BA-III secured the first position in the essay contest for the English category whereas for the Hindi Category Samriddhi Srivastava, Nidhi Yadav and Anshu Yadav secured the first, second and third positions respective­ly.

Samriddhi Srivastava and Archana Pal, MA-II secured the first position, Nidhi Yadav secured the second position and the third position was bagged by Esha Narula for the creative writing competitio­n.

On October 9, a poster-making and a collage-making competitio­n was organised. The winners for poster making were Anjali Sharma and Meghana Agarwal from BA-II while the second position was secured by Hema Mishra from BA-I and the team of Shobhita Gill and Shruti from BA-III. The third position was bagged by Nidhi Yadav and Akansha Dixit from BA-II and Priyanka Rawat and Preeti Kanthwal from BCom-II and BA-II respective­ly.

The first prize for collage making was secured by Shruti Gupta and Shobhita Gill from BA-III. The second position was secured by Anjali Sharma and Meghna Agawal from BA-II while Priyanka Rawat from B Com-II and Nidhi Yadav from BA–II stood third.

The weeklong event culminated with a special program on World Students’ Day and the prize distributi­on ceremony was held on Monday. Students paid tribute to the ‘Missile Man’ of India by reciting lines on Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
