PERSISTENCE SHEDS LIGHT WHERE THERE WAS DARKNESS TO BEGIN WITH

In a way, you can define persistence as a determined fight against any resistance. Persistence, taken to mean a whole-hearted and ceaseless effort, does wonders. The most important thing it does is that it paves the way to one’s goal; and at times, it leads to different ways and possibilities. And that makes it possible to go ahead with renewed vigour. It helps discard all the fears and negativities at the beginning of one’s mission towards a fulfilling life.

That is why we have people like Benjamin Franklin saying: “Persistence conquers all. You have to keep going no matter what the obstacles you deal with.” Actually, for one who can show one’s skill in going ahead, come what may, the whole world seems to be greeting her, thereby paving the way for her success. So much so that persistence can beat even talent because talent alone without hard work leads one nowhere.

All the successful people were not highly talented but they had the ability to be persistent, and they are in a minority against the majority of us who give up with the first obstacle coming our way.

I always say persistence is another name for patience. It is persistence that helps one develop patience and the ability to go ahead.

And, to quote one of my favourite authors, Maya Angelou, “You may encounter many defeats but you must not be defeated.”
