‘BJP has given the max number of dalit MPs and MLAs’

-

AGRA :With an eye on the general elections next year, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday urged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers to reach out to dalit voters and communicate the benefits of the various welfare schemes launched by the regimes at the Centre and the state.

Addressing the state executive meet of the BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha in Agra, Yogi said, “It is the BJP that has given the maximum number of MPs, MLAs and corporators from the dalit community. It was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who thought of building memorials of Dr BR Ambedkar in five places, including spots in Mumbai and England.”

“The opposition parties make hollow promises, but do nothing for the scheduled castes. Rather, dalits were looted during their regimes. It was the BJP rule that brought in welfare schemes such as the PM Awas Yojana, the Jan Dhan Yojana, the Ujjwala scheme and the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Efforts were made to provide electricity to villagers and take other initiatives to benefit the deprived,” said the CM.

During his speech, targeted at wooing the dalits, Yogi mentioned names of Sant Valmiki and Ravidas. He also spoke at length about Dr BR Ambedkar and said that his views needed to be communicated to the masses.

BJP leaders present at the executive meet outlined the need for a stronger organisational approach to include more scheduled caste members. The state executive members were asked to work to enrol more dalits into the party fold.

Plans on organising vehicle rallies, marches and meetings of the BJP SC Morcha in each Parliamentary constituency of the state were discussed. Mahendra Nath Pandey, UP BJP president, and Kaushal Kishore, state president of the BJP SC Morcha, also attended the event.

EFFORTS WERE MADE TO PROVIDE ELECTRICITY TO VILLAGERS AND TAKE OTHER INITIATIVES TO BENEFIT THE DEPRIVED,” SAID THE CM.
