WASHINGTON/ANKARA: Parts of journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s body have been found at the Saudi consul general’s home in Istanbul, a Turkish opposition leader claimed on Tuesday. Dogu Perincek, leader of Rodina party, said in an interview that body parts were discovered in a well in the garden, Haberler reported.

Another report in Turkey claimed remains were found at the home of the Saudi consul general. Sky News said its sources revealed the journalist’s body had been “cut up” and his face “disfigured”, with remains found in the garden of the Saudi consul general’s home.

New details emerged before Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, promising to reveal the “naked truth” behind the killing, told lawmakers on Tuesday that a plot to murder Khashoggi began days in advance, and his body was still missing.

He said there were strong signs Khashoggi’s “savage” killing was planned, and attempts by Riyadh to suggest it was a rogue operation by intelligence operatives “will not satisfy us”.

In a speech to Parliament, Erdogan did not mention crown prince Mohammed bin Salman, who some US lawmakers suspect ordered the killing. But he said Turkey would not complete its investigation into Khashoggi’s death until all questions were answered. “Intelligence and security institutions have evidence showing the murder was planned... Pinning such a case on some security and intelligence members will not satisfy us or the international community,” he said. Erdogan demanded Saudi Arabia reveal the identity of a “local cooperator” who purportedly took the body.
