LUCKNOW: Two days after the younger son of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council chairman Ramesh Yadav, Abhijit, was murdered, the investigating team is planning to scan the call detail records (CDR) and CCTV footage to ascertain the location of Yadav’s elder son at the time of the incident.

During investigation, Abhijit’s elder brother Abhishek claimed that he stayed at another flat on Saturday night and reached the crime spot only on Sunday morning.

Abhijit’s mother Meera Yadav, who is the prime accused in the case, reportedly called Abhishek around 8 am on Sunday morning and asked him to reach the official residence in Darul Shafa, where Abhijit was found dead.

“The findings of the CDR and video footage will be crosschecked to corroborate the statements given by Abhishek,” said a senior police official privy to the investigation. The CDR of Meera and Abhijit will also be examined.

This will determine the possibility of Abhishek’s involvement in Abhijit’s murder.

The family first told police that Abhijit died of a heart attack and tried to cremate the body. However, suspecting foul play, the local police intervened in the matter and sent the body for post-mortem.

Autopsy confirmed his death was caused by asphyxia due to strangulation.

Based on the findings of the post-mortem report, police lodged an FIR and arrested Meera on Monday, following which she was sent to 14-day judicial custody.

Ramesh Yadav said he was not aware of any family feud that may have led to the crime. Meera is Yadav’s second wife. His first wife lives in Etah from where Yadav is an MLC.
