First day of constable recruitment exam peaceful
LUCKNOW The first day of the written examination for the post of constables, conducted by the UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) passed off without any untoward incident on Thursday.
The examination is also scheduled to take place in two phases on Friday.
The examination is being held to fill the 41,520 vacant posts of constables in police and Provincial Armed Constabulary.
The examination for both male and female candidates was held at 55 examination centres here. The two-hour examination was held in one shift between 3-5 PM.
“The examination at all the centres was organised successfully. The entire process was monitored closely by the duty staff,” said senior superintendent of police (SSP), Lucknow, Kalanidhi Naithani.
The officer personally inspected a dozen examination centres and kept a close watch on the developments from the command centre.
The examination centres were distributed into five zones, each comprising two sectors. All the centres fell under the area of 18 police stations of Lucknow.
“The station house officers (SHOs) of the respective police stations along with 10 circle officers and assisting staff were deployed to carry out the exercise,” said the SSP.
Sufficient police force was also deployed at the railway station and bus stops in the city to manage heavy footfall of possible willing candidates.
The local media cell of the police was also put on the alert to keep an eye on any rumours that might be spread about the examination on social media.
Reportedly, a total of 975987 candidates will appear in the examination.
UPPRPB has set up 482 centres across 16 districts in the state to conduct the examination
