We must explore this (waste management) sector that holds promise to not only reduce energy prices but also provide employment.

YOGI ADITYANATH, CM, UP

LUCKNOW: “We can solve the problems of waste, clean water, energy and sanitation by adopting scientific measures, the way we solved the problems of food and milk shortage in the country,” said chief minister Yogi Adityanath at an event to felicitate scientists held at Lok Bhawan on Thursday.

The programme was organised by Science and Technology department of UP, in which 41 scientist were awarded for their contribution to science. The scientists were selected for the year 2014-15 and 2015-16 under various categories, including young scientist and scientific teacher etc.

Deputy chief minister and education minister Dinesh Sharma also participated in the event.

Stressing the need for scientific vigour, the CM said that a scientifically aware community was more developed and able to face difficulties in a better manner.

“The real aim of science is to bring about positive change in the society,” he said.

Citing an example of reduction in price of mobile data, Yogi said technological advancement leads to reduction in the prices of important services.

“An important aspect of scientific thinking is to look at problems with a different perspective. Scientist who work in the field of waste management see garbage as a source of energy that can be an important source of income. We must also explore this sector that holds promise to not only reduce energy prices but also provide employment ,” the CM said adding the BJP government both at the center and the state will continue to promote scientific temper.
