LUCKNOW: Union minister for minority affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Thursday claimed that under the Narendra Modi government the school dropout rate of Muslim girls has come down to 35% to 40% from 70%.

“It happened due to awareness and educational empowerment programmes initiated by the Modi government,” said Naqvi while inaugurating the UP BJP’s minority cell meeting in Lucknow.

“Our goal is to bring it down to zero per cent,” Naqvi said adding that for the first time since Independence, 131 minority youths,

› The appeasement politics of the socalled secular syndicate had hijacked the empowerment of minorities, especially Muslims, for last several decades MUKHTAR ABBAS NAQVI , Union minister for minority affairs

including 51 Muslims, have been selected in Civil Services.”

Claiming that minorities have become an equal partner in the development process now, Naqvi said, “Last year too, 126 youths belonging to minority communities, including 52 Muslims, had been selected in the prestigious civil services. The representation of the minorities in the Central government jobs, which was about 4.9 per cent in 2014, has now increased to 9.8 per cent.” “The appeasement politics of the so-called secular syndicate had hijacked the empowerment of minorities, especially Muslims, for last several decades,” he said.

He said, more than 5,43,000 youths were provided employment and employment opportunities through job-oriented skill development schemes such as ‘Seekho aur Kamao’, ‘Ustaad’, ‘Garib Nawaz Kaushal Vikas Yojana’, ‘Nai Manzil’ etc.

“Since last year, about 1.5 lakh artisans have been provided employment and employment opportunities in national as well as international markets through Hunar Haat,” he claimed while insisting that Modi government’s policy of “development with dignity” is helping the minorities.

“To ensure employment oriented skill development of minority girls, the Modi government is providing school, college, polytechnic, ITI, skill development centre etc under Pradhanmantri Jan Vikas karykram in areas deprived of facilities,” Naqvi said.
