LUCKNOW : Police arrested a man who posed as a ranking official and tried to enter the base camp of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Rampur on Saturday.

“The accused one Mohit Tiwari, a resident of Etawah District was arrested on the complaint of security incharge of the CRPF camp. Mohit was detained at the entrance gate of the camp,” said superintendent of police of Rampur Shiv Hari Meena.

Mohit reportedly was with his parents when he was detained. According to police officials he had told his parents that he works at the camp and was on his way to give them a tour of the place.

“He confessed during the interrogation that he did that just to establish his lie that he works at the camp,” said the officer.

The said base camp is one of the most protected areas of Rampur district. The guard posted at the camp’s entrance gate stopped Mohit and asked him to prove his identity. When the latter failed to furnish relevant ID proof, CRPF handed him over to the police.

Based on the complaint lodged by CRPF officials, police have lodged an FIR under relevant sections at the Civil Lines police station and initiated investigation into the matter.

Police sent him to prison on judicial custody. His parents however were released following preliminary investigation.
