LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Airport will soon see new international flights land and take-off in the next three months.

An official of the Lucknow Airport, on conditions of anonymity, said that around 15 more international flights predominantly to and from the Gulf region and Singapore, will be arriving and departing from Lucknow.

The reason for starting these flights is the newly installed facility of Terminal Approach Radar, which was inaugurated by Air Traffic Control general manager SK Purwar at the Lucknow Airport on Friday.

With the newly installed

radar, the number of flights landing at Lucknow Airport will increase appreciably. As of now, international flights are being increased.

Airport director AK Sharma said, “The installation of the radar means saving time during the arrival and departure of aircraft. This also means that Lucknow Airport will be able to handle more flights at the same time. This will save a lot of fuel, reduce carbon emission, as this radar will streamline the landing and take-off operations at the airport by opitimising use of airspace.” The radar will accommodate more aircraft in the air while also reducing chances of diversions in case of DVOR failure.
