LUCKNOW: The daring loot incidents in Lucknow, Amethi and Kannauj have put the superintendents of police (SPs) of these districts on the radar of chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who has directed them to work out the crimes within 24 hours or face the music.

The senior officers have also been directed to fix responsibility of policemen due to whose negligence criminals carried out the loot, committed murder and fled with ease.

Principal secretary, home and DGP have been directed to monitor the progress of the investigation in the cases and submit report.

The Amethi SP, in his report on Tuesday, informed the state government that the two criminals, who looted ₹4.29 lakh from the salesman of a petrol pump, have been nabbed and search for their accomplice was continuing.

On Monday, three motorcycleborne criminals shot at the salesman of a petrol pump while he was going to deposit money in a bank in Gauriganj town.

The petrol pump is owned by BJP leader and former minister Jang Bahadur Singh.

The Lucknow police are yet to work out the loot case in which two motorcycle-borne assailants shot dead the cashier of a gas agency and looted ₹10 lakh from near a bank in Vibhuti Khand area.

The Lucknow police, in their report, has stated that the day the loot was committed, new station house officer (SHO) and deputy superintendent of police had taken charge.

The former SHO, who gave leave to 15 constables and sent another 15 constables for Chehhlum duty, has been blamed for the incident.

The head constable, who had assigned patrolling duty, was also missing from duty.

The SP has ordered an inquiry against the former SHO, said a state government officer.

The SPs have been directed to deploy UP-100 vehicles near banks and intensify patrolling near them.

During an inquiry, it was found that UP-100 vehicles were not on bank duty and patrolling was also lax.

Action will be taken against the officers for ignoring the instruction, said the state government officer.

In Kannauj on Monday, criminals shot at a person and looted Rs 3.5 lakh. The police are yet to nab the assailants. The SP has sent the policemen on duty to lines for failure to check the crime.
