Elevated Metro stns between ‘Babu’ stadium and Munshipulia complete
LUCKNOW: All the elevated Metro stations between KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium and Munshipulia have now been completed while the engineering work on the track from Charbagh to Munshipulia is also complete.
“The final phase of construction was completed within the deadline due to hard work, dedication, commitment and perseverance of our team,” said Kumar Keshav, managing director, LMRC. He said the sub-structure consists of piles, pile caps, piers and pier caps. As man as 2,321 piles were installed during the construction phase that includes 541 pile caps also. Twenty-one different types of steel spans were constructed in this project, like the 60m steel span near Nishatganj flyover and 45m steel spans (like the one beside Hotel Clarks Awadh and four in Indira Nagar).
The most remarkable achievement was the installation of curved U-girders near IT crossing for the first time by LMRC. Setting up I-girders near Polytechnic crossing was also difficult due to traffic congestions in that area, he said.
“The LMRC faced major challenges during the sub-structural project work like the construction of piles and pile-caps at Gomti riverbed for cantilever span. During monsoon, the level of river increased drastically for which irrigation department had to be consulted to monitor, control and check the water level for smooth functioning of construction phase,” said Keshav.
