LUCKNOW: Despite the passing of over 36 hours after the murder of cashier Shyam Singh and a deadline set by the chief minister, police teams investigating the case remained clueless about the assailants.

The local police pressed in 12 teams, headed by two other teams under the two SPs (superintendents of police), to work out the murder that took place outside Bank of India branch in Vineet Khand. The teams are being assisted by units of local surveillance and IT units but any conclusive lead in the case continues to evade them. Police released a picture of the assailants that was captured by a CCTV camera moments after they committed the crime and also announced a reward of ₹50,000 for information leading to the assailants’ arrest.

However, according to senior police sources, no one has approached them with any evidence about the attackers. The police teams have also recovered video footage of 72 hours. “We suspect that the accused must have conducted a recce of the place considering the way they committed the crime,” said a senior police officer privy to the investigation.

On their part, the local police detained 25 suspects who are being interrogated. “We have also sent our teams in nearby district to get information about the assailants,” informed senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Lucknow Kalanidhi Naithani. He went on to assert that his teams will be able to meet the deadline set by the chief minister for catching the accused.
