LUCKNOW: An FIR was lodged against a senior IAS officer on the complaint of a woman subordinate, who accused the former of sexual harassment at work place.

The FIR was lodged at Aliganj police station on Tuesday.

The woman, a middle rung officer at Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) posted in Lucknow, said the accused officer was then the director of FSSAI.

As per the complaint, the incident occurred six years ago during an official visit of the director from Delhi to Lucknow.

The officer reportedly forced her to accompany him into a hotel room and to the airport in Lucknow, according to her complaint.

The woman also alleged that the officer sought sexual favours from her in lieu of promotion. He transferred her to hostile places when she declined his advances.

Local police had registered an FIR under relevant sections of IPC and initiated investigation into the matter, said station house officer of Aliganj police station Anand Kumar Shukla

Interestingly, the woman in her complaint has also claimed that she told her seniors about the officer’s behaviour following which an internal investigation committee was formed. The committee also found the officer guilty but yet no punitive action was taken against him.

THE WOMAN, A MIDDLE RUNG OFFICER AT FSSAI POSTED IN LUCKNOW, SAID THE ACCUSED OFFICER WAS THEN THE DIRECTOR OF FSSAI.
