US firm to clean Gomti
LUCKNOW: In an effort to clean Gomti along with other rivers of the state, an American company, ‘Oil Spill Eater International Corporation,’ in association with Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam, is conducting an experiment in a drain situated in front of Mankameshwar Temple on the banks of river Gomti.
Company official Rajesh Pandey said, “The cost of cleaning in other countries is around 40 paise per litre and the cost in Lucknow will be finalised after the experimental project is over. This purifying process is carried out with the help of machines and good bacteria, which promises to clean the contaminated water in few minutes.”
This experiment involves the process in which the flow of polluted water is blocked by the machines and then exposed to the good bacteria for immediate purification and later, the purified water flows back into the river. This experiment is currently being conducted in front of Mankameshwar Ghat.”
Oil Sill Eater International Corporation chief technical officer Ralph A slazar said, “If this experiment gives positive outcomes then this will be carried out in collaboration with Jal Nigam at other places as well.”
In the upcoming Kumbh, this experiment is supposed to act as a milestone to keep River Ganga clean. This company is working on more than 42,000 projects to clean rivers and drains in more than 100 countries (America, Australia, Zambia, Mexico, Nigeria etc). They claim that they can convert the pollutants into CO2 and clean water after treating it with chemicals.
This whole process of cleaning was inspected by Jal Nigam and Project Gomti and other officials.
